What's an e-book?

To start with, the word e-book stands for electronic book. Just that small explanation should give you an idea of what comes next.

An e-book is an electronic book, instead of a book printed on paper. It is a book that you read directly on your computer screen. It looks like a printed book, there are pages just like on a printed book, graphics, images and printed text which look just like what you read in a paper printed book and you read it just like a book. It even had a book cover and all the other components you usually find in any book you buy in a bookstore.

The text, graphics and images in an e-book are all contained into a file. That file must be opened and its content displayed on the screen in order for you to read it. This is what a file reader does. That is what Microsoft Reader 2.0 is, a file reader.
